Introduction

Client Server, a well-established tech recruitment agency, approached me with a challenge: their website, while functional, had become outdated and failed to capture their forward-thinking ethos. They wanted a fresh start but didn’t know where to begin. This gave me the opportunity to reimagine their digital presence from the ground up, aligning it with their vision and goals.

My role

I was responsible for leading the redesign of Client Server’s website, focusing on creating a modern, intuitive user interface that elevated their brand while meeting business objectives. Using Figma, I developed high-fidelity prototypes to bring the design to life, enabling the team to visualise the proposed direction and provide early feedback.

Beyond aesthetics, I prioritised improving user journeys to make the site more intuitive and engaging for both clients and candidates. Once the design was finalised, I prepared a comprehensive handover, including style guides, component libraries, and user flows, to ensure a seamless transition for the development team.

The challenge

Engage clients and candidates more effectively, increase bookings and interactions, and elevate their online presence to outshine competitors.

Research & Discovery

To ensure the redesign aligned with Client Server’s needs, I analysed competitor websites and extended my research to tech startups with a reputation for innovative branding and design. This broader perspective helped identify opportunities to differentiate Client Server’s digital presence.

Key insights

Many competitor sites lacked visual impact and felt overly complex to navigate.

Tech-savvy candidates and professional clients preferred clean, modern, and approachable interfaces.

Simplified navigation and visually engaging features were crucial for creating a standout experience.

These findings shaped my approach, focusing on intuitive navigation, impactful visuals, and a polished design that resonated with their audience.

Design approach

Instead of jumping straight into full-scale designs, I presented Client Server with several design concepts. This collaborative approach allowed us to align early on the overall direction, saving time and building trust.

Learnings

This project highlighted the importance of involving the client early in the design process to build trust and align on the vision. By combining bold, creative choices with functionality, I delivered a design that balanced visual impact with usability.

I also learned the value of integrating accessibility considerations from the outset, ensuring the site was inclusive for all users. Moving forward, I’ll continue to apply these principles to deliver designs that make a meaningful difference.

Closing thought

The Client Server project was an exciting opportunity to modernise a long-standing brand and create a website that not only looks great but also works seamlessly for its users.
